Boulder Lake Hike 6/5
Lars, Chris, Michael, Ronnie, and Patrick set out on a Saturday Morning left for the Upper Gold Creek Trailhead at about 11:00. During the hike we had some difficulties do to having to cross multiple creeks. As adventurous Scouts, we didn’t cross them with out getting wet. Later on the hike we found ourselves with 4 feet of snow blocking our path. We pushed on, trekking through the late season snow on the trail. As we made our way down towards the lake, the snow got deeper and deeper. We turned around with in a quarter mile of the lake for the prospect of a dry camping spot. We trudged back to the top of the ridge and made camp in a small saddle. Camp was set, bear bags were hung, and food was cooked. A great game of “Go-Fish” was played. During the night a pack of wolves wondered near out camp. Their prints in the snow the next morning surprised everyone. After camp was tore down and everything packed up, we retraced our trail to the car. – Lars (Activity Chair)
